Paying Attention Around The Holidays

Originally posted 12/18/20 on the ACP Facebook page.

We are between two major holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, both meant to be shared with family and friends. Which makes it an ideal time to think about how your loved ones are faring. When you enter their home do you notice anything unusual, or out of sorts? Is it as clean and orderly as it usually is, or more chaotic and disheveled? Is your loved one up to the normal cooking routine or does she need some extra help this year? These questions are simply starting points for you to assess the situation and begin preparing for next steps.

Watch for upcoming posts about a series of difficult conversations that may be of interest to you. One post will discuss the “Driving” issue and how to face it with your loved one. Another post will discuss the “Living Alone or Not” issue and it will be followed by the potentially touchy subject of “End-of-Life” decisions and plans.
